How can you check validity of a driver's license?
Q. My friend has a Texas Driver's license, but he received a DUI in FL. Is there a website that he can check to see if his license has been suspended. I know in FL there is a 10 day rule that you have to request that the license not be suspended until the legal matter is resolved, but I don't know if it would be different in this situation.

A. Some states department of licensing web sites have a function where you can check and see what your driver's license status is. If that isn't available, you might suggest to your friend they go to the local licensing office and request thier driving abstract which would include thier license status and any convictions. There is normally a small charge for this. If your friend was arrested for DWI/DUI in another state it is thier responsibility to keep up with the administrative side of things (license suspension etc) as well as the criminal (going to jail, fines etc). Hopefully they learned from thier experience.

Any way to check validity of Home Businesses?
Q. I would love to work from home but am very skeptical of (what seems to be) get rich quick schemes. Is there a "burn site" on line where people have gone with complaints of false advertising and such? I just got a magazine "HomeBusiness connection".In it are things that seem too good to be true. Any ideas how to check?Thank you! Marla

A. A few things that you should take a look at before getting involved in any company. 1. How long have they been business? If it's under five years, there is a risk factor. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't get involved. It just means theirs a higher risk of this business succeeding. 2. Does the company have a license? You can check with the BBB and see if they're registered with them. If they are, then you know they are a legitament company. But just because a company is not registered with the BBB, does not mean that it's not legitament. Here's a secret that I learned about the BBB. It's not a governement organization. It was basically designed for consumers, employees and even Independent Representatives to be able to go and it… [cont.]

How can I check the validity of all the email addresses in my contact list?
Q. Is there a way to check and see if an email address is valid without actually sending them an email? I have had my yahoo email for a long time now, and I'm sure that some of my contacts emails are no longer valid. I hate sending an email then finding out two days later that the email is no longer valid. Does anyone know of a "check" I could run on my entire address book?

A. Check this free email validity tool without any limitation: You will be able to see live progress of all element - connection and then giving MX Records for given address with validating output.

How can I verify the validity of a check written on Charter One equity line?
Q. HELP! My crazy husband sold a car over the weekend and accepted an $1800 check from a family. The lady assured him the check was good and said it was her "home equity" line. The check just says Charter One, but no address or contact number for the bank. I will be taking it for deposit to my credit union today, but is there a way for me to verify that it is good prior to waiting to see if it bounces??? We live in Georgia and find no brances in this state. Any advice?

A. It can be checked with the DVLA but only certain organisations are able to use the facility. It is not something which the general public have access to. Examples of organisations are, obviously, the Police and Car Rental companies.

What are some websites for 3rd party companies that check & verify the validity of vitamin contents?
Q. I've heard that many vitamin companies state one thing on their labels for content but when tested it is found that they are severely lacking in their claims, where can I check to see if my vitamins are tested for accuracy?
Asked by Randy P - Wed Sep 9 09:30:46 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. There are three main ones that you'll commonly see referenced. Consumer Labs is one of the main testing companies that advertises which companies pass/fail, but they don't test every product so you're getting a limited assortment listed. Because of that, the main companies you'll want to see referenced are GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) or USP (U.S. Pharmacopoeia), as those are the main quality assurance organizations (USP is for the U.S., GMP is for the U.S. and worldwide). If a company has a reference to either of those, you can be assured that you're getting a good quality product. Good luck and I hope I helped!

A. If there is not phone number on the check, that is a red flag. Of course it there is a number, you have no idea of who will answer at the other end to verify it anyway. Are you supposed to get this money? Is it for merchandise? Take them to your bank to see if they can offer a contact.

A. Dusty has perhaps highlighted only part of the story. If you have moved since the will was made the lawyer won't have your current address. If you are being scammed it is likely that the name of a genuine lawyer is being used by the scammer. If you have received an email about the inheritance, it is probably a scam. Have you been given the full name of the person who left you the inheritance. If not, ask for it - but don't give any more information yet. If you don't get a name or don't know the name - it's a scam. Strangers don't leave money to you. Ask international directory enquiries for the address and phone nuimber of the lawyer. If they're not not the same as you have already been given - it's a scam. If you are told you… [cont.]

how do i check on the validity of a missing child report from an email?
Q. i got an email from my cousin and some things about it set off a few red flags that it may not be real. any advice will be appriciated.
Asked by Brian D - Wed May 24 21:54:32 2006 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It should give some specific information if it is valid. These would be... Name of missing, age, D.O.B., and a brief description of what they look like, and what clothes they were last seen wearing. Perhaps some vital info on who they may be with. The things to look for is this: Look for a local police agency's number. If it is there, you could easliy call it to verify if it is real. If they aren't sure, forward the email to them. That should be enough to let them look into it, and tell if it is a real alert, or another scam. I received one of these last week about a young brown haired girl missing from somewhere that was a hoax.

Q. How does balance sheet analysis provide a check on the validity and quality of earnings?
Asked by sexy - Thu Feb 15 12:04:17 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Trick question. For you to analyze your balance sheet you must also have your cash balance and to have validity and quality of earnings you must compare the two to previous periods. For example a balance sheet with good quality of earnings would reflect lower cost of inventory, lower AR and low expenses and this would be reflected on your cash balance. A bad quality balance sheet would show high AR, lots of inventory and high expenses over a previous period. A bad balance sheet may happen in times of growth becaue of the expense of that growth and would be reflected as a negative cash flow on your cash balance report. Basically your balance sheet shows you where your money is tied up and if its tied up on inventory or loaned out to… [cont.]

how do u check the the validity of an airticket?

Asked by jamide06 - Fri Sep 15 11:50:28 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Totally un-utilised ticket can usually last for up to 1 year from the date of issue as stated on the ticket. However, it really makes a difference what kinda ticket you got, whether it can even change. Some very restricted tickets, once you didnt travel as accordingly to the date that you booked on, you cannot use it again. If your holding E ticket, you can just call up the airline to check. If its paper/physical ticket, you can only either see it on the 'invalid after' or call the agency.

Q. How do I check the validity of some old bearer bonds? some dating back to 1950's?
Asked by Tony L - Wed Feb 24 16:32:04 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Contact the companies that issued the bonds. There may be a phone number on the back of the bonds, or go online to morningstar.com or valueline.com for more info about the company. If the company no longer exists by that name, ask your local library's reference librarian to show you Who Owns What, which tells what companies have been bought by other companies. Nto sure it goes back to the 1950's though. Some bearer bonds only pay interest if the coupon is surrendered at a particular time. The back of the bond should tell you. Good luck.
