A. Georgia Institute of Technolgy offers an on line master's in Industrial engineering, with a manufacturing and logistics track. It includes courses in such subjects and Transportation and Supply Chain Systems, Manufacturing Systems, Warehousing Systems, and Deterministic Optimization. The on campus program is ranked the best of its type in the country. Update: Also, this is a web site specifically dealing with distance learning in logistics. It has an article on the subject, and then links to other web sites with more specific information.

Is this enough to get the job I want?
Q. When I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Management, I could not get into the field I wanted to because of lack of experience (Logistics/Transportation Management). I am about to graduate with my Masters in Business Adminstration and I got my CDL and became a truck driver over the past 2 years and I wanted to know if this was going to be enough to get into the management side of the field or should I be prepared to get more education?

A. Should have enough to at least obtain a entry level management position in logistics. Do not expect to start at the top simply b/c you have an MBA. Experience will give you the desired rewards down the road.

What is Environmental impact between making a Hybrid Car and a Gas Car?
Q. Hi, I am a newbie on hybrid cars. So, please bear with me. I know you don t want to buy a hybrid car to save gas money. I know it would take more than 10 years in some case to save the difference buying a hybrid vs. a gas car. Okay, so I am willing to spend extra $8,500 to buy 2007 Honda Hybrid over 2007 Honda DX. However My concern is how Honda makes their hybrid and is it really sustainable? I have heard that making a hybrid car, maintaining, and disposing of it is more environmentally damaging than a gas car? Is there any websites or studies to show what is the difference in environmental impact of hybrid vs. gas car? The MIT study, On the Road in 2020, reported on a comprehensive energy life-cycle analysis and found that 80% to 90% of all energy was used in the operation stage; 7% to 12% in the materials production stage, and the remainder in vehicle assembly, distribution, and disposal. So the extra energy used to build a hybrid is negligible over the lifetime of the car.
