What style self-storage facility should I keep vinyl in?
Q. I live in the northeast, will be away for the fall, and plan to put my vinyl and comics in a self-storage facility. i have everything boxed up properly but need to determine if i need to spring the extra money for a climate-controlled storage or the regular garage-style space. would it matter during these months? would it matter more during other months? Thanks.

A. Climate controlled. You want temp maximums not to exceed the mid 80's F. Humidity doesn't matter much to the vinyl, but the paper jackets will deteriorate rapidly in a damp environment. 23% relative humidity should be ok but to be sure, check with your local bookbindery. They should have some charts for paper vs water absorbtion.
