Very large and fast SPIDER in my Pennsylvania basement.?
Q. Out of the corner of my eyes the other night, I noticed a rather large (probably 2 in. long) spider run very quickly (faster than I would speed walk) past my basement floor. It is a rather moist basement in south-western Pennsylvania. Does anyone have any ideas what kind of spider this might be and any remedies to rid my basement of them? I'm definetely no expert, but when I read about spiders, I somewhat noticed a pattern that if they live in damp areas they are usually harmless. Whereas the ones in dry places or in timber are the more serious kinds. Unfortunately it was too fast for me to really see it. I have a little desk in my basement where I do school work because it is the only quiet place in the house, but now I can't… [cont.]

A. I don't think there are poison spiders here in PA. If it was 2" long are you sure it was a spider? It could have been a millipede. I have them in my basement. They are long with lots of long legs & they are FAST but also harmless. I wouldn't worry about it. I don't bother spiders if I see them because they kill other bugs for me. I know you probably have the creepy crawly feeling now but just try & relax & cross your legs in your chair if you have to.

How long does it take for Pennsylvania to issue a vehicle title?
Q. I just paid my car off and I am anxiously awaiting the title. I received a letter from the financer stating that they have contacted the DMV to remove the lien. Does anyone have any experience waiting on a title in Pennsylvania? How long does it take? Any way of expediting the process? Thanks!
Asked by Kim - Tue Jun 24 20:43:59 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well, it depends on if it was an electronic title, or a paper title. If it's an e-title, you should have it in about 10 business days. If it is a paper title - it could take 6-8 weeks. And, no, no way of expediting it unfortunately.

Where In Pennsylvania would be a good weekend vacation destination in October?
Q. My wife and I have our ten year anniversary in October, and I'd like us to go somewhere special. Our destination would probably have to be in Pennsylvania, because her family lives in Pittsburgh and we would leave our son with her sister.

A. October in PA is the most beautiful time of year to visit; days are warm, nights cool and the leaves are breath-taking! I suggest confluence, the Youghiogheny River has various sites around it, a hike/bike trail that stretches from Pittsburgh to Washington D.C. and sometime in October they have a pumpkin fest. It's about an 1 hour to an 1 1/2 from Pittsburgh and you could find a nice cabin or B&B to stay in. Also they have local wineries. P.S. Congrats our 5 year anniversary is in October.

What is the time limit for extradition from Pennsylvania to Virginia?
Q. My friend is being held in a jail in Pennsylvania and after his hearing on Wednesday, the state of Virginia will have the right to have him extradited there. They have to pick him up. What is there time limit to pick him up? My friend said it was ten days and after that they would have to file an extension and the max total is 30 days from the day that they are allowed to pick him up.

A. I think that you are confusing the time limit for the action on the detainer with the order for extradition. He is currently held on a detainer for a warrant of extradition and the courts have a limited amount of time to act on that. Since his court date is Wednesday, the time limit on the warrant is a moot point. The amount of time for extradition is generally set by the judge. On average, they will order that the extradition take place within 30 days. Unless a flight is required, he will probably be picked up in15 days. The courts in Pennsylvania will have to notify the Sheriff's Office in Virginia of the court findings for the extradition process. They will probably sit on it for a few days before faxing it out. How safe is the area around the University of Pennsylvania?
Q. I will be walking to and from campus at the University of Pennsylvania. How safe is the area for walking (considering I will be essentially new to the area)? Specifically, how far west along Walnut Street can an unfamiliar person walk away from campus? I have heard that West Philly can get bad, and is not far west of campus.

A. Well I went to go visit drexel, which is right next door to UPenn, and it seemed pretty safe to me. Many of the people said that as long as you walk around with a person or two, you are fine, but the area is not very bad. I did not feel like it was too dangerous. Personally, I found the area around LaSalle University and Temply University to be really dangerous and unsafe... I'm not sure if that is west Philly or not but it was a bout 10-15 min drive away...

How do you change a car title over to another person in Pennsylvania when you still owe on the car?
Q. I have a car that I am still making payments on. I would like to sell it, but I am worried that no one would buy it because of the hassle involved with changing the title over. Has anyone done this before? How does the procedure work in Pennsylvania? Please help! Thanks!
Asked by Kim - Fri May 30 18:08:08 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You need to contact the bank that you make your payments to. They can help get you prepared for the sale. Selling a car that has a lien on it is a common occurrence. Just be sure to let the buyer know ahead of time so there are no surprises. They would go to the bank with you and would pay them directly to clear the lien.
