I have 2.07 gb on my vodaphone wireless broadband meter, how many mb's have I got left?
Q. Is there some way to set up a seperate meter to check my broadband usage, which is more accurate than vodaphones meter and make sure I do not go over my monthly allowance.

A. to convert from gb to mb you just multiply by 1024 so your answer will be 2.07 * 1024 =2119 mb's good luck

A. Are you sure when you put the ends on correctly you got the color codes into the correct places? Ethernet is not just a pin to pin connection it is a PAIR to PAIR connection and that makes a big difference to a working/non working cable. Pin 1 -- Orange/White Pin 2 - Orange Pin 3 - Green/White Pin 4 - Blue Pin 5 - Blue/White Pin 6 - Green Pine7 - Brown/White Pin 8 - Brown Notice the green green/white pair split on pins 3 and 6 its important that your cable does this! Here is the diagram for you. See the pictures of the T-578B for the correct pin outs. If you want or need a crossover cable (*used to connect computer to computer without a switch between them) you have to "CROSS" pins 1&2 and 3&6 to get a working cable! Usually… [cont.]

A. Firstly you will require a wireless router, this connects to your modem and sends wireless internet signals. if your computer has wireless built in the simply search for avilable networks and connect to your one ( you will probably want to secure it). if your laptop does not have wireless built in you will need a wireless laptop card which can be purchased from most electrical stores, note that you do not want a PCI one you want one specifically for a lapop

Our church office has BT broadband. Can we have a wi-fi link to the church about 100+ metres away?
Q. We do not have a 'phone in the church, but would like a web connection. What is the best method? Thanks.
Asked by KGRP - Sun Sep 21 17:08:15 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It depends. Are theese in the same building or seperate buildings? how reasonable is running cable? If you run cable is it feasible to put a network switch somewhere arround the middle to keep individual runs below 100m? Wi-fi with the standard antennas will not reliablly run that far. With good directional antennas and direct line of sight between them it will work over much large distances but by the time you have done that it may well have been easier to use a cabled soloution.

Q. today i got an optus wireless broadband netbook and have been on the net a fair bit. when i go to check the online usage meter it says my usage is at zero even though ive been on youtube and downloaded a fair bit. do you think i could have gone over the 2GB limit in one day?
Asked by Koda N - Fri Sep 25 13:17:51 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It depends on your internet service provider. They may have a daily recording meter instead of an instant recording meter. Also, 2GB is not much space to go by. You should limit your daily activities on video surfing. 1 hour shows from iTunes costs 2GB average, 2 hour shows costs up to 5GB. Much more if the video is an HD rather than an SD. If you have exceeded your monthly bandwidth cap, the ISP should have let you know or you can find out by contacting them. But I am agreeing with the previous poster and saying yes you did. As YouTube videos are like iTunes videos with a few hours of watching them equaling your 2GB. I would avoid going to YouTube or any Flash enabled sites as those costs a bunch. You can also contact your ISP and… [cont.]

Trying to change Broadband Provider Keep getting weird message?
Q. I have been with Tiscali for about 5 months i already get 2meg and wanted to shop around for 8meg and maybe better offers, but all get is message like this: "We have detected a product that may be currently unsuitable for Broadband on your line" or "We have detected a feature or service on your line that is incompatible with Broadband. Your line maybe a 30k loop, private circuits, RedCare, Meter Pulse or a PBX extension line. You will either have to ask BT to remove this feature or choose another line" What does this mean i already have broadband what could the problem be? Any help would be great... Thanks
Asked by Natalie - Fri Oct 20 13:58:52 2006 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments

A. RedCare is for burglar alarm circuits, I think PBX means you're plugged into some office exchange private circuits would mean a wire that BT doesn't own probably none of these are actually true. BT are known to cheat sometimes in the way they hook up phone lines, especially when they run short of capacity. Complain (151 I think) and they should fix it.

I have a Belkin broadband ADSL2 wireless router, how can I extend its range to the end of the garden?
Q. The router can be either positioned in the house or about 30 metres away in the garden house. Currently the router is in the garden house, and the signal just about reaches to the front of the main house on the second floor, though signal strength is shaky. But it doesn't reach the third floor. We need to extend the signal so that the whole 4 floors of the house and ground floor of the garden house are covered. Would a couple of wireless access points, one linked to the router placed in the house, the other in the garden house work?
Asked by bbbbenjy - Wed Oct 18 16:12:52 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. One router will not cover 4 floors of your house AND reach your garden's end... period. You could put the router on the second floor, reduce your broadcast power so your broadcast area reaches just outside the house; that should allow you to access the network from any floor in the house. The second option is to put the router on the first floor of your house, raise your broadcast power so your area reaches the garden, but you won't get a decent signal on any other floors. The third option is to get a repeater or another router for the garden house. That's the bottom line. P.S. DO NOT use a Pringle's can over your antenna, it will seriously mess up your router's power managment and change your antenna's power requirements… [cont.]

how do i use a linksys wet54g bridge to extend the range of a wireless linksys wrt54g broadband router ?
Q. I basically want to use my laptop at a distance of about 75 metres from the wrt54g.
Asked by shasha - Sun Feb 4 16:00:00 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I have read the manual for the WET54G and find no were that it is capable of range extension of a wireless network. As far as I can tell it is only used as a bridge/client. It can be plugged into a ethernet enabled device, such as a Playstation or Xbox or a ethernet printer, and connect those devices to a wireless network. Or it can be used with another bridge to allow two seperate networks to share resources. If you want a Linksys Range Extender you need a device that can use Repeater mode, like the Linksys WRE54G.

Q. If just changed from dail up connection to broadband do i need a diffrent 20 meter cable?
Asked by michael h - Wed Oct 18 14:33:03 2006 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You need an RJ45 connection cable for the broadband connection, and a filter for your phone line if you have ADSL. The filter is used to stop the fuzzy interferance you can get on the line, and it helps route the phone and broadband so you can use both at the same time. This hardware should have come with your Modem kit. If it didn't call your ISP and ask them what is up with this and why you did not receive all the hardware you needed to properly setup your broadband connection. Good luck and have a great day!

Is there a way to boost wireless broadband signals?
Q. Serious answers only please. I have a PC about 25 metres from the transmitter. It is in an outside 'office' I can pick up the signal but it is fairly weak, and sometimes drops off. Any way to boost up would be appreciated. Thanks
Asked by Dee Cee - Wed Mar 14 11:45:41 2007 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The transmitter or 'wand' should point exactly up, (towards the sky.) eventhough most images of a router shows it pointing at an angle, do not point it towads your computer otherwise the signal will be really weak.

Just got sky broadband and the wireless router (Netgear) has a poor signal. How can I improve the signal?
Q. We live in a new house so the walls are not very thick. The router is only about 20 metres away and the signal is 1-2 and sometimes cuts out altogether. Is there a way to improve the signal or should I buy a better router, if so, which one?
Asked by MarketingPerson2007 - Fri Aug 10 15:35:17 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Routers put out about the same signal now, so another router is not the answer. You need a wireless repeater, which you can place anywhere that it can pick up the signal, and it will booster it Back to original strength. Search on google for "wireless repeater" and you will find several models.

BSNL Broadband usage.?
Q. I have doubt that BSNL Broadband usage 'meter' is jumping.Am i correct?
Asked by Keshav - Thu Mar 20 02:37:13 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There will not be any jumping. You may be using more download. There is no possibility that some one else uses your account. Wired Broadband is bound to your landline telephone. See that nobody uses your landline elsewhere. Complain to the BSNL authorities and ask them whether your broadband user account is bound to your landline number. Confirm this. There are many cases found like this. They are all just because they are unaware that they are using more download (viewing web sites). To get rid of the risk, take unlimited plans. All the best.

A. You really need a wireless router. Make sure it has an ethernet connection which can then plug in to your modem. Buy a wireless card (internal PCI ) or external wireless USB link to connect to the wireless router. You can get some good deals now on a router and USB interface package. Search the web such as Misco or go and visit your local PC World
