Q. I need to move out of my accommodation, but I can't afford fancy private rents. Would I stand any chance of getting accommodation through my local council or housing association? One is being homeless which you are not, another is being in priority need which you also are not - look at the shelter website as it will go into detail on all the criteria and give you a better understanding. You have a right to go on the housing register but in Brighton the average wait for a property is up to 15 yrs!! I do not know what job you do but perhaps you qualify for keyworker scheme in your area? If not, get a list of housing associations and co-ops and see which ones take single men.
