How close to delivery did your baby drop with second pregnancy?
Q. I'm 36 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I was at my midwife two weeks ago and the baby was measuring 35cm. Yesterday at my appointment she was measuring 33cm. My midwife explained that this means the baby has dropped lower into my pelvis. I've always heard that second babies drop closer to delivery.

How much did your delivery cost with medical insurance?
Q. My co-pay is $450 a day and I was wondering if this is normal? My insurance seems to be good up until this point. I paid $30 my first apt and nothing until the delivery. But I am curious to see if this co-pay is normal. Thanks!

A. That copay seems high to me... I think with our plans at work, the highest inpatient daily copay is $150. Hopefully, you're getting a bigger break on your insurance premiums. Regardless, stay in the hospital for your deliver as long as you feel you need to - I'm sure your insurance has a limit (usually 48 hour stay for vaginal delivery & 96 hours for C-section), so you'll want to know that limit ahead of time. Another couple things to keep in mind with insurance are your deductible and your out-of-pocket maximum costs. When I had Zachary, my deductible was $1000 and the out of pocket max was $3000. I'm glad the cap was $3000, since the C-section with minor complications was about $28,000! If you're really worried about the costs (whi [cont.]

How was your second pregnancy and delivery different from your first?
Q. I have a 20 month old. Just took an EPT and it appears to be positive, that I'm pregnant (ssshhh). So I'm wondering, how is the second pregnancy and delivery different from the first, and how is it having two little ones instead of one? How can I prepare myself?
Asked by HeavenlySinging - Fri Jun 26 13:51:06 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I just gave birth to my second child almost 3 months ago. My first child will be 4 in December. It is not as bad as you would think having 2 kids. My daughter is very helpful and she loves her little brother to peices!!! The second pregnancy went by very slow and was not much different than my first except that this one was a scheduled c-section and my first was an emergency. YOu can get overwhelmed with taking both children out sometimes, and night feedings are never great, neither is lack of sleep. But you already know that from the first pregnancy. You cant really prepare, just accept mentally that there will be 2 little ones instead of one. Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy!!
