how long does it take for a new refrigerator/freezer to get cold enough for food storage?
Q. I am replacing my old refrigerator/freezer. When the new one is delivered, do I need to place my refrigerator/freezer contents in some sort of transition cold storage (eg. a neighbor's freezer) while waiting for the new appliance to reach the right temperature?

Not all food freezes successfully - some foods are affected by the anomalous expansion of water (the peculiar property of water in that it occupies more space when frozen than when liquid). All this freezing capability comes at a cost - fridges use energy and produce surplus heat. (Until recently they were made of not very eco-friendly materials). A renovation plus new extension get new plumbing, new electrical etc. A high efficient combination gas boiler with integrated hot wate storage and low energy storage charging pump will be built in. All bathrooms new. The builder wants to build in a cold water storage in the attic, because it is 'common practice'. Do I need that? What is it exactly for? Can I avoid having it and feed directly from the mains, as it is done in other countries on the continent? Whatever is needed could be done now, as everything will be renewed anyway.

According to both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine- extreme cold and heat will degrade the epoxy that holds the club together, cause the grip to dry out and crack and disrupt the integrity of a graphite shaft. The Golf Guru for GD also said it was just plain dumb to keep them outside (in your garage or storage shed) or in the trunk of your car. Clubs are expensive, and risking theft or unnecessary damage should be avoided.

Q. i work in coldstorage,any tips on dealing with extreme temperature changes would be appreciated. when i finish work and go outside i seem to burn up in my face. i also seem to get colds more often. i am also wondering whether working in such an environment is bad for long term health.any advice ( apart from put on a jumper and wear a beanie ) would be great.

Cold water storage tank. Should I remove brown sludge build up?
Q. Our water supply comes from a well. We have a cw storage tank that is over 50 years old and though the water was fine until recently, there is a lot of brown sludge inside, on the sides and bottom. The water got contaminated by a fuel leak last week and the tank is nearly empty. Should I clean the sludge out before the tank fills up again? or is it harmless?

Finally divide by 277 to get capacity in gallons. Calculate volume - 2 ft x 3ft x 3ft = 24in x 36in x 36in = 31104 cubic inches. Multiply by 2/3 to get ideal capacity - 31104 cin x 2/3 = 20736 cubic inches. Convert to gallons - 20736 / 277 = approximately 75 gallons.
